ALEXA имеет крепление оптики PL-типа для стандартных кинообъективов 35-мм. Камера полностью интегрируется с существующими профессиональными киноаксессуарами. Камера использует один 35-мм CMOS-датчик ALEV III с разрешением 3168х1782, формат кадра 16:9. Электронный шуттер имеет регулировку в диапазоне 5.0° — 359.0°. Электронный видоискатель камеры создан на основе F-LCOS-микродисплея с температурной стабилизацией и автокалибровкой, разрешением 1280х768. Оптические элементы выполнены из высококачественного стекла, механические узлы и корпус видоискателя надежны и прочны. Видоискатель воспроизводит изображение с высокой цветовой точностью, и так же, как оптические видоискатели, имеет функцию Overscan, позволяющую видеть кадр большей площади, чем фиксируется на носитель. Это позволяет избежать ошибок и неточностей при съемке. Размер изображения в видоискателе камеры Alexa такой же, как и в видоискателе камеры Arriflex 235. Видоискатель крепится сбоку, как при обычной ручной съемке, или сзади для большего удобства при работе со штурвальной головкой. Некомпрессированные данные HD и ARRIRAW выводятся через HD-SDI (single / dual link, стандартные разъемы BNC) для записи на внешний рекордер. Выходной сигнал имеет гарантировано высочайшее качество и полную полосу, т.к. он не подвергается предфильтрации и ограничению спектра. Удобство и эксплутационное преимущество камеры ALEXA в том, что ее можно использовать как камкордер. Опционная встраиваемая система записи на карты SxS делает материал мгновенно доступным для монтажа благодаря встроенным кодекам Apple ProRes.

BNC connectors designed for fast exchange without camera disassembly have been used for ALEXA since approximately mid 2012. These connectors require a special tool.
SD Card For importing and storing ARRI Look Files, camera set up files, frame line files, feature license keys and user pixel masks. Stores captured stills from the REC OUT image path in ARRIRAW (.ari, 12 bit), TIFF (.tif, 16 bit), DPX (.dpx, 10 bit) or JPEG (.jpg, 8 bit) format (1). Stores log files. Also used for installing Software Update Packets (SUPs).
Обновления The Storage Interface Module (SxS Module) can be exchanged for future storage modules (i.e. XR Module). The Electronics Interface Module can be exchanged for future control electronics (i.e. Plus upgrade). An easily exchangeable lens mount allows other lenses beyond PL mount lenses to be used. The lens mount can be upgraded to accept ARRI Full Spectrum Neutral Density (FSND) filters. Simple camera software updates via free-of-charge Software Update Packets (SUPs) and payable license keys – Anamorphic De-squeeze, High Speed and DNxHD.
